The Elite SWAT International Competition is not simply a competitive event. It is a gathering of SWAT operators from around the world in one place to work together as one unit and exchange valuable experience and ideas in counter terrorism and hostage rescue. It is also an opportunity to compare and learn about new equipment and the evolution of crime. This gathering ultimately aims to promote a sense of camaraderie and brotherhood between participants as well as raise the competitive spirit as teams show off their abilities and develop their capacity to save lives from any and all threats.

The Elite Competition began in 2007 in which a few teams participated in and was followed by another in 2009, after which there was a long pause. The competition resumed in 2016 and was exclusive to the Special Units (SWAT) Department. The competition became international in 2017 with the participation of the special forces team from the United Arab Emirates. We look forward to more international teams participating in future competitions.

The events will include scenarios based on real life situations faced by counter terrorism/hostage rescue operators. These events are intended to challenge participants and display their strength, cohesion, and field experience in shooting, fitness, and tactical operations. Some of these events are named after Kuwaiti martyrs to immortalise their names and honour them as it is through them that we know what sacrifice for country truly means. We will continue to work on raising the preparedness of the teams to preserve the safety of our people and our nations and face and all threats that may come our way.
